He was assessed by the Dutch physios. I wouldn't be surprised if they examined the wrong leg or something...

I saw the original article in the Mail and it looked as if they had confused Szczesny and Djourou to me. Will try to find the article.
Not the Mail, but I think the story originated from the Metro, and they definitely took something Szczesny said and claimed Djourou had said it.
Djourou explained to the club's television channel at the time: 'There's not a lot of joint damage, the tendon is ruptured, so basically I have to keep my finger in a splint for four weeks and let the tendon heal. 'From then, it will be a couple of weeks before I can be back in the squad.' Wenger is already looking for players to bolster his defensive ranks next season, with German international Per Mertesacker, who is available for transfer from his current club Werder Bremen in the summer, being the number one target.
