If Chelsea are letting Essien go on loan it's because they've watched him in preseason and he looks like the same shitheap he was last year. They aren't the best judges, but I'd rather sign someone else.

He's not massively efficient. He's not Gervinho either.
Also, on Essien, would be a major loss not being able to play him against the team we needed him against the most!
To be fair to Tiote he's an excellent ball-winner which is something we desperately need in Song's absence. He's a good footballer too.
Remy is decent, nothing more and i don't think he is the right player to have on the wing if either of Theo, Gervinho or Podolski are on the other side. His versatility is useful but he won't add much in my opinion.
Have to say I'm a big fan of Remy. Not so much his current performances, but he has the raw skills both technically and physically. Give him a season or two in London and Wenger might turn him into a top footballer.
How many years does Tiote have left on his contract? Newcastle won't be reasonable price wise unless compromised in some way.

No midfield gets an easy ride against a team with Tiote in it. He'd make us much harder to play against.
