Liking the idea of mvila. We could then put out a solid defensive midfield when required.

Sit him in front of the back 4 and let him do nothing else other than protect the vulnerable parts of the defence. He's one of the few players I've seen that actually has the discipline to happily do just that.

Song, Artea, Ramsey, Wilshere, Rosicky and Coquelin can all fight it out for the other two spots in the midfield. Whilst Song, Arteta, and Coquelin could also play M'Vila's role when required.

I really do think a good player playing that role could make this team a better one.

I don’t get this obsession with a DM who does nothing but defend, we signed Arteta and the DLP has really stabilized our team.. This is the way it looks like it’ll be going forward.. Having a DLP and a dedicated DM is overkill imo.. we would lack creativity in the final third of the pitch when we need it, especially with the type of wingers we are signing now. its fine the way it is with a B2B next to him, maybe Song should rain himself in a little at times but no need to change the system, for the first time since we changed to 3 man midfield it finally feel like its balanced.

And spend 20m plus on a DM, who much rather use the money somewhere else.

Anyway, we had a window (in every sense of the word) last summer when we could have signed him - and probably tried depending on who you believe - but he's since said that he wanted to stay, hasn't he?

I'm pretty sure we enquired about Götze but I don't think we were ever interested in Kagawa. Might have been because he was still walking around in a boot last summer though.

I meant that Kagawa would be encouraged to stay now that Dortmund seem to be trying to build on their already good team and that we were in for Goetze last summer but missed our chance. My bad.

So many different places say we were all over Götze last summer, not a lot you can do when a player is happy where he is though.

At least we won't have to hear all the stories this summer, and can focus elsewhere.

Gotcha. Yeah, that's probably it. This is his first full season for Dortmund too so it's probably too soon for him to move anyway. But as a Japanese he's a bit different from Götze. A lot of German footballers view Bundesliga and the top clubs there as equal to the other big European leagues. Bayern Munich are the biggest club in the world for a lot of Germans, and now Dortmund are making waves. I'm not sure Götze will ever move abroad. Kagawa might view things differently since he wasn't born in Germany though. That's what I meant when I said he's more likely to move if a European top club approaches Dortmund with a good offer.

Dortmund looks like a great place to play footy. That crazy looking manager has them playing great stuff and the atmosphere at their ground looks insane
