Just a very clever player Ricky. He has good physical attributes too. You old depend on him when it matters and we need more of those type of players.

Yep he plays centreback but is just as good in midfield. He's versatile hence we wouldn't need vertonghen as well. I'd rather martinez than mvila

Hmm I get what tim is saying, but I think now is the time for us to spend big if we ever are going to. It'll restore fans faith and gives a show of intent in times where our ambition is frequently questioned.

I like you Tim, but that's crazy talk. We need upper echelon players who will be able to take control of a game. van Persie is one. Jack will likely be another. Goetze should be a third. The more such players you have, the less likely you're going to see big variations in the quality of our play.

How would those that have seen A lot of Götze compare him with a young Nasri, or even the Nasri we saw at Arsenal? The good and the bad.

Nah, without going through my reasoning in a big essay style post, bottom line is I want either a genuine world class talent for £30+ million, somebody that is guaranteed to take us up a level, or someobody that is guaranteed to get us lots of goals. Not sure anybody out there (that's potentially available) fits the bill perfectly right now, although there's a couple of players that interest me.

I guess ultimately, having seen a bit of Hazard and Goetze this season I'm just not convinced they're worth the money. Neymar on the other hand would be, but not sure he's right for us.

Anyhow, really hope we wrap up our business nice and early for a change. So we can prepare properly this pre season n hit he ground running and also to allow arsene to have a rest. He needs time to relax and refresh himself

I don't think there's much resemblance. Götze is a top-class playmaker. Nasri has always struck me as the type of player you use to exploit space, not to create it. His problem for much of his Arsenal career was that he didn't take players on enough, though. Götze don't have that problem. He's a superb dribbler. He can play anywhere on the field but ideally you'd put him in the line behind the striker to get as much as possible out of his final pass.

It's the Oxlade-Chamberlain argument all over again. Goetze is going to be a top class central attacking mid, so why muck around playing him on the flank? He plays there for Dortmund, because Sahin was tremendous, and Kagawa is pretty damn great, and Goetze can play on the flank without losing much from his game, but still.

I think I'd prefer Sahin though. There's no way he can possibly be happy with the way his season at Madrid as turn out (although that begs the question of why the hell he went to a club that he knew he wasn't going to play at in the first place).

Just read this on A-M:

Vertonghen is currently on a Dutch football-themed tv show and has more or less admitted he'd be interested in joining Arsenal and that there have been early talks between his agent and the club. He also attended the Milan game last week.

Hmmm.....

If all these rumors are to be believed we will sign Vertonghen, Podolski, Matias Suarez and Holtby.

It isn't even the end of season and we already have links to players.

Only time will tell about which one of those deals pan out

Yep. The Argentinian journalist that claims we have signed a pre-contract with Matias Suarez, also claims we have done the same with Lewis Holtby, and that we are in talks with Vertonghen, and a deal is days away.

So - Suarez, Holtby, Vertonghen and Podolski pretty much done and dusted already? Can´t wait for the actual transfer window to open in 3 months. 🙂

I'm not buying the Vertonghen interest. I just don't see where he'd fit in.

Podolski, yes, I think we'll sign him. Suarez - could be truth in that pre-contract, seems to fit - and I reckon the Argie guy probably knows more than the average journalist in this case. Holtby - another one I don't see, given he's more of a central player and, as far as I know, not other worldly good like a Götze.

I don't know where either Suarez or Verthongen would fit into our squad, unless at least one player I don't expect to leave departs.

Mainly played wide for Mainz in what was his stand out and break through season.

He's also the most exciting player on that list by a mile (although I don't know Suarez).
