The Bolton manager took Arsenal’s young winger on loan last month and believes the Japanese teenager can blossom just as Jack Wilshere and Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge did in similar loan spells at the club.

Miyaichi certainly got off to a flying start, setting Bolton on their way to a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals by scoring against Millwall in the fourth minute of his full debut. He showed great awareness and technical ability, and Coyle believes he can become a top player.

“I would love to get him on a permanent basis but Arsène knows, as I do, that Ryo is going to have a terrific career at Arsenal,” he said. “He can go very far in the game.

"When you consider the wide players Arsenal have, it was understandable that the boy had to go somewhere to play and Arsène felt the same. If we can give him the right platform, he can go back to Arsenal a far better player and ready to push for a first-team place.”

Coyle believes Miyaichi can become as successful as Wilshere and Sturridge, although he points out: “They are different types of players. Jack is a central midfielder, Daniel is a natural striker and Ryo is a winger who can play on both sides or behind the striker.

"He has a lovely temperament and tremendous physical condition, with pace to burn. Millwall is not an easy place to come, but he was tuned in from the first minute.”

Indeed, Miyaichi’s quick feet followed up Sam Ricketts’ quick thinking from a fourth-minute free-kick, and the winger’s fine first touch allowed him time to measure a shot into the far corner of goal.

Having trained with Thierry Henry and Robin van Persie in recent weeks, Miyaichi knew what to do.

“Sam gave me a good delivery. I like to come off the left wing and into the box like Henry,” he said. “At Arsenal, I saw many times Henry score the same way during training. Van Persie also did it on the opposite side. They showed me a very good example.

“The manager gave me a chance and I wanted to give him a big impression. It was a really important match for me, the atmosphere was amazing and it. It was unbelievable to score.”

David Ngog put the result beyond doubt in the second half with a long-range strike to finish off a dogged Millwall side who could not turn possession into goals.

Both sides are battling relegation in their respective divisions, and Coyle is hoping a good cup run will be a catalyst for survival.

“We know we can stay in the Premier League, that is in our hands, and we also want a Cup run,” he said.

He has already been contacted by the Japanese FA about Miyaichi’s availability for their forthcoming World Cup qualifier with Uzbekistan.
