  • I thought Bellerin had a good game, but watching the video, he had a boss one. Got his foot in, intercepted well, passing and movement were top notch. Hope he kicks on and makes the RB position his for the next 10-15 years. Arsenal's Dani Alves (but with some defensive nous) πŸ™‚

  • Arsene Wenger : We scored goals and didn’t concede. Our offensive game was good even though I believe we had some weaker periods in the game when Aston Villa were in possession. We always looked dangerous when we got [in between] their lines and defensively we were sound as well. Overall it’s a positive day for us. I feel a bit for Villa because they gave a lot and fought very hard. Maybe it will be difficult for them but they were caught in the last 20 minutes because they were tired. The second goal was a blow for them but overall they did fight.

I agree with his assessment. The beginning of the second half was weak. Not the first time in this run either. What do you guys think the reason could be for our flat/insipid approach between 45-60 minutes.

Even if Ospina been exposed yet, i see no reason to want Szczesny back. Ospina has dealt with everything that has come his way so far and he looks a better keeper than Szczesny ever did.

I always dread a cock-up when Szczesny is in goal. I guess the defense has the same feeling and that's why they don't seem none too assured.

  • Arsenal at their very best still need to hope that any of Madrid/Barca/Bayern are off their game over 180 minutes. That's asking for too much. Don't think it is going to happen.

And this scenario would arise if we beat Monaco. consistency is the attribute lacking most so let us beat Monaco before we even talk about winning the CL.

  • Thanks for making it a thread - now I can hear about other's low points too πŸ™‚

The reason I asked Anzac was because he said he has been supporting Arsenal since 1978. So there would have periods of ebb and flow. But glad that it was made into a thread.

My lowest point was the 8-2 loss. Not even relegation candidates concede 8 goals, and conceding so many to the arch nemesis Man Yoo made it hard to stomach. Shameless and naive!

  • Every club has gone a period of strife. One could argue emotional investment itself is masochistic.

  • @[deleted],

What has been the lowest point as an Arsenal fan in all these years of being a fan?

  • @Tone, Haha used to be a fan of his, when I watched Cricket.

@[deleted], Arsenal and glory-hunting. LOL. I'd say all Gunners are at some level, masochists.

  • Hi All,

Been a lurker for a long time.

Been an Arsenal fan since 2003. Funny story how I became a fan.
My brother got a jersey as I was a fan of wearing Football Jerseys (though all I ever knew about football was watching the original Ronaldo). The jersey he got for me bore the name Arsenal and I was not even aware of who/what Arsenal were and to do justice to that I started watching Arsenal games on TV. And the year they go unbeaten playing majestic football. King Henry remains to this day my favorite ever, something to his game that I love more than I did Ronaldo's.

  • My first ever post here.

Arsenal are in good nick and should be beating Villa. 2-0 is my call.

With regard to the line-up, I'd say:

    Ospina

Bellerin-Mertesacker-Gabriel(If Kos the boss is injured)- Monreal

    Le Coq - Ramsey

    Theo - Santi - Rosicky

    Giroud
