Indeed, for me he looked a much better footballer before his injury, which is understandable, but the gulf in what he was / how he played before, compared to how he's performing now is substantial. I still have plenty of time for him, and maybe some rest as well as time to rebuild his confidence, calm, and poise is what he needs.
There is, of course, the possibility that we (I) rated him much higher than we (I) should have in the first place as well.
