Miquel deserves to play. He was excellent in the CC against Man City apart from the first 20 minutes where he figured out how to handle Adam Johnson. Has been really good in his cameos since. And yes, I am aware of his part in us conceding the other day.

Coquelin has been named in the provisional squad so he's obviously fit.
There was some talk about him carrying an injury but that does not seem to be the case.

The Gibbs situation is beyond a joke now. You've got to feel for the kid (unless you subscribe to Tim's theory!), but it just can't go on.

There's just no point in including Gibbs in any future plans for the team.
It's rough on him but he just doesn't function as a professional sports person should.

I disagree. He's much too slow. More a reactor than an anticipator. But we don't exactly have a multitude of options.

We should just write off Gibbs for the rest of the season and let him prepare for next season.

If Djourou is out for this then I want Coquelin at right back. Koscielny has been amazing at center back and him and Vermaelen should not be moved from the center.

To think of it I would like this back 4 at Villa park.

Coquelin-Koscielny-Vermaelen-Miquel

With those two in the center and Villa's piss poor attack I think we can compensate for our weaknesses at fullback and win this game.

Van Persie off at the earliest opportunity, I want him to get that scoring record too but I think his fitness is more important and if we can rest him then we should.

Johnson is a good player.

In any case, I don't think anyone's said that Miquel is a great player. He is, however, the only option we have at the moment. Unless we want to play our two best centrebacks on the flanks for the next month.

We lacked someone like Johnson against Manchester City. I'm not saying we should sign him but we could have used a player with a similar skillset. Preferrably someone a little less injury prone and a little more developed, but he's in the right mould.

I'd definitely take Johnson too, was showing real promise on a consistent basis before being (somewhat unfairly) replaced by Mancini's latest million-pound mercenaries.
