The amount of two footed challenges and diving was crazy. Ramos and Sanchez especially.

Ronaldo tries too hard in these games. He easily could've won the game for Real. I hate both teams though

Not really, the level to which these two teams, and in particular certain players, dive is pathetic even within their own league/team. It's not just exaggerating contact, it's cold blooded cheating and I don't think they were as bad before. Alves and Busquets are scum and but you don't see the likes of Messi, Villa or Iniesta play acting more than usual.

And this is aside from the way they conduct themselves off the pitch or getting in fist cuffs and then hiding behind referees at the first sign of trouble.

But I could deal with all of that if they didn't then turn around and take the moral high ground.

As for the game, I struggled to care. I thought it was a deserved win for Barcelona and Iniesta was the best player on the pitch.

In Spain it's a lot more regular and more part of the traditional culture. You can't expect Pep to cull it in Primera Liga.

If Wenger coached a Spanish team I guarantee the team would continue diving in matches.

Exaggerating contact is diving because football is a contact sport. If you take a brush of the shoulder that doesn't knock you off but still go down then that is diving. Brushing shoulders is not illegal.

And I never had Xabi as a diver in England yet I saw him fly in the Madrid game after "heavy contact".

How anyone can watch a Spanish game and not expect mass diving or at least some diving must not watch the game that often (i actually don't watch Spanish football often). When I do see it I see diving.

The fact that some players dive more than others is normal. As a culture, diving is standard in Spain.

Diving is standard in football full stop. Diving going on in every PL game as well. Live with it. Wish football could adopt the culture that is in rugby instead of the mass cheating we have today, but there you go.

I think maybe it just looks more obvious and ridiculously theatrical in Spanish football.
There's an element of shame attached to being labelled a diver in English football so those who dive are a little more sneaky about it.

Who said anything about sly? Pep is a professional and keeps his ego in check. He learned mucho about playing a Mourinho team when Barca lost to Inter.
As to referee bias, that's always the excuse used to console oneself when the team they wanted to win didn't. If you want referee bias, look no further an today's Stoke v Spurs match.

There's less diving in the premiership for sure, mostly because the refs don't buy it and don't really care all that much if someone gets fouled. Different culture.

I've always felt that there must be a football academy for the theatre arts in Italy given the way the Italians dive.🙂

Sure, but it's not worse than going down when there's no contact whatsoever.

It just means that people are bigger hypocrites in Premier League.

The only striker I've ever seen who never took a dive was Gianfranco Zola and he's Italian. On the other hand I see perceived English hard men like Barton go down like a sack of shit every week when someone breathes down their neck. There's no rule or system to it. Players dive as soon as they have something to gain. People just get less upset about it in certain cultures.

In the Madrid-Barca game Pique protested but in the end could do nothing for his yellow card against Ronaldo's dive. Interestingly, I don't think he went up to Ronaldo to accuse him of cheating. He just complained to the Ref.
