Wenger said it was his decision to sell Cesc. He really shouldn´t have, and I will maintain forever that it was a poor decision and not in Arsenal´s best interest. The guy had 4 years left on his contract. What was he going to do? Sulk for 3 years? Please.

Had we played hardball with Cesc then we could have sold Nasri a lot sooner, even if that had meant us getting a few million pounds less.

I still believe that a major factor in why we left it so late was that Wenger thought he could persuade both players to stay willingly.

Wenger pleaded with the club to sell Cesc cheaper so they could get a chance to spend the money, but that was after he had spent an entire preseason refusing to play.

You know he would have played. If anything - Cesc isn´t stupid. IF he refused to play, which we don´t know btw, then it was because we were not firm. Why should we have even listened to offers from Barcelona? We should have held him to his contract, same as Levy did with Modric.

It was damaging for the club to keep a clearly unsettled player - particularly when it's the captain of the club. Personally, I'm so glad we don't have to go through that shit this summer. It was the most tedious bollocks to read about. Now the situation is quite simple. Just offer Robin £100k a week. If he says no, double it. And then get this Podolski fella in. And get in another CM. Enjoy the Euros. Wilshere, Arteta and Mertesacker get a full pre-season under their belts and ready to go. And come 31st August, there's no panic.

I don´t care how tedious it is/was. He was the best player at this club for years, he had 4 years left on his contract, and we are a way worse team for selling him.

As for damaging - we don´t know that.

Each to their own. I do care. I think it's massively important the captain of our club wants to be here. And when I'm paying these ridiculous prices to support our players, I don't want my money to go in the pockets of those who aren't fully in The Arsenal cause. For me, some things are more important than winning or losing - I'm happy enough supporting a squad of Jenkinson's.

As I said, some things are more important than winning. Jenkinson's a gooner. He's one of us. I'm happy to support him no matter how shit he might be (not that I think he's shit).

Levy had to hold on to Modric this summer for the first time, we've been fending off interest for Cesc for at least two seasons prior to this one and this wasn't the first time Barcelona came calling. More to the point, the little shithead refused to go anywhere else which meant we were massively on the backfoot even while negotiating.

Maybe we could have done more but I don't think we fucked up with either Nasri or Cesc. The problem was not signing replacements before the season began, Mertesacker and Santos could have been at the club before pre-season and they were not dependent on Nasri or Cesc staying.

Colonge now are officially finishing at best 16th so they will be in the bottom 3.

If cologne win their final game (Bayern Home) they finish 16th
If cologne do NOT win and hertha WIN then hertha finish 16th.

Why is this relevant?

Because the 17th place team is definitely relegated while the 16th placed team has a 2 legged playoff with the 3rd placed bundesliga 2 team (Yup Lulu announcement likely to be delayed till at least the 14th of May if cologne are 16th) . Cologne are in total disarray though so it's hard to see them pick up a win anywhere (9 points in their last 16 games)

With fabregas we would never have won anything with him as captain but every summer we would go through this drama and it will effect our ability to buy players and on top of that everyone knew the captain of the club didnt even want to be there, so im happy he left. At least with vieira and madrid we were winning things and vieira was talismanic so it was worth the hassle.
