It could also be due to the fact that our team game is really built around RVP, Arteta and Song right now. Take any one of them off and the team feels it. Barca don't take Messi off because the team would be rubbish without him, and likewise United Rooney.

I think it's a combination of the few things mentioned...plus, IMO, this: We have seen many leads slip from seemingly comfortably positions, and Wenger has been heavily criticised. I think Wenger might be a little afraid that taking the captain off could be seen as a move of arrogance.

The other thing is not only is RVP our best player/captain but he also has the biggest gap in quality between himself and his best alternative. Eg taking off Walcott for Chamberlain or Gerinvho for Benayoun won't raise eyebrows; but taking RVP off for Chamakh could leave the remaining 10 men deflated.

chamakh is an accountant so you can understand he plays the way he does, however would you rather have the egotistical bendtner or the altruistic chamakh.

Bendtner over Chamakh for sure. Can't have a striker who is scared of shooting. Chamakh needs to re-evaluate his career choice, though at £60k+ a week, I think he's probably quite content.

I suppose he will be relatively cheap, and they are suffering financially, and there is a possibility that within striking range they'll deliver the ball to his head as opposed to his feet.
If this alleged transfer gives us any kind of an opening in negotiations for Jovetic it'll be one of Chamakh's better contributions.

I can see why people would take a risk on him. Good before he came here, started well for us then completely fell apart. Playing at a lower level, new club, etc could get him back to his level. Worth a risk for a midtable serie A side.
