Not really, his net spend is pretty much zero isn't it?

Think he's done well in the market, once the team gels they'll be dangerous. Soldado was a mistake though.

It's actually hilarious. The Mirror article on it suggests they honestly believed the partnership meant Real would not sell any of their players to other top clubs in England.

They cite the Sahin loan, the Ozil sale and the intended Coentrao sale to United.

We, the devoted and loyal fans of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club are petitioning to end the "strategic partnership" with Real Madrid Club de Futbol. Since we have agreed to form the partnership, Real Madrid C.F. have treated us and our players without respect including "tapping" up Luka Modric and Gareth Bale. The transfer of Mezut Ozil to our top rivals in order to recoup money spent on Gareth Bale is the ultimate duplicitous action and we deserve a fair and mutual exchange between clubs rather than being treated as a feeder club. We ask that the "strategic partnership" that we have not benefitted from be terminated. Sincerely,

What's most ironic about the whole thing is that Spurs have benefited massively from the partnership too. Not only have they gotten around £120 million for two players who weren't worth 1/4 of that - they have also opened up entirely new commercial channels which have brought in extra revenues. They have had access to Real Madrid's scouting network and have been included in their market strategies. They're parasiting off the network of the world's mightiest football club and they have the nerve to complain about it.
