His eight year contract was pretty much unheard of though? Who signs more than a 4 year deal these days?
I said it about this time last summer - we should have held on to him for another year. For two reasons primarily;
1 - giving in to his and Barcelona's will like we did sets a potentially dangerous prescedent.
2 - Ramsey needed another year as a bit part player to grow into the role.
