i think people focus too much on the fees as if it's the sign of a great player. he's on 60k a week. that's why he's at spurs, they were willing to pay valencia over the odds for a 60k a week player. the fee paid isn't the real reflection on a player's ability, it's how much he's paid. that's about the same giroud is getting. so i'd expect similar results from soldado as last year with giroud.
i saw a silly post on a spurs board about how they should have gotten negredo instead because he's a better player. they are so caught up on negredo being much cheaper that they are oblivious to the fact that negredo is on the double the wages. obviously any signing can flop, but when man city evaluate 2 spanish international strikers they are going to sign the one that is perceived as superior and pay him more.
