I'd love us to sign Abidal, but I don't think it'll happen. If he joins it will be permanently rather than a loan deal, and Wenger said a few times that he's not looking for solution beyond this season. Another problem would be registering him with the home grown players rule in place.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we can register only 17 players older than 21 who are haven't trained in England for 3 years before they turned 21. The players registered since the start of the season are: Fabianski, Almunia, Santos, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Squillaci, Sagna, Arteta, Rosicky, Benayoun, Diaby, Arshavin, Gervinho, Park, RVP, Chamakh. Henry is our 18th non-HG player so by registering him we've unregistered another player (I'm assuming it's Almunia).

So this situation forces us to sell before we buy the likes of Abidal, Podolski etc. and I don't think Wenger will do that. Sadly, the best we can hope for in this window are the likes of Bridge/Richardson on loan :\

It's apparently true that we are giving a trial to the Omani defender Saad Suhail (according to Al-Habsi).

Wishing the best of luck to my Omani bro Saad Suhail who went to London today and will be in Arsenal for a week trial.

The guy is on trial. If he doesn´t look half decent we won´t try to sign him. Who cares anyway? It´s not like he will cost us any real money. We could have his whole team here on trial and I wouldn´t care one iota more than I do now.

Not at all, I'm just pointing out that you appear less concerned about the quality of the players we're linked with, than you do with their price.

Not sure what excuse has been given to him in private, but I think this chap from Oman is just in London to train for a while. We've had players like that before from America, India and Cambodia among other places. We probably have some kind of relationship with his club or something along those lines.

Speaking of trials, I read about another 16-year-old Swede who's training with Arsenal the other day. Think his name is Niclas Eliasson. You heard anything about him, Rex?
