I wouldn't mind at all if we signed M'Vila since I think he is a competent player who would add something to the squad.

However, I don't think we are in for him, or any other CM for that matter. We already have quite a few young players at CM - Wilshere, Ramsey, Coquelin, Frimpong. I don't think Wenger is prepared to sign another player ahead of them in the pecking order unless at a bargain price.

If the rumors about Giroud are true, then I think Wenger is quite happy with the squad, unless someone important leaves. Then he will no doubt replace him with an inferior player. 🙂

Although wenger is notoriously known for not wanting to 'kill' players, when a player he rates becomes available in a window of opportunity he takes it. Firstly the sagna signing killed eboue, then signing lass diara when we had flamini song diaby denilson cesc could well have been seen as overstocked. Even now he has signed 2 strikers even though theoretically we still have 6 strikers already on our books. Seeing as this is the perfect opportunity to get mvila (a young French international he rates high) he is going to take it.

Couple of people on twitter still adamant we have signed him. If Wenger can openly admit the Giroud deal and not this deal I dont see how we are so close to getting him.

Those who insists he's coming to Arsenal, say Rennes want time to sign a replacement before any announcement. In the Giroud case, his chairman was the one who basically came out and said we were in negotiations.

When we signed Nasri, Marseille didn't want us to announce until they'd found a replacement, so I don't think it's that uncommon. In the Podolski case it also seemed clear he was coming to Arsenal before any official announcement.

I'm convinced we're signing him.

I suppose each transfer is different. Just have to wait and see I guess.

If we sign this guy along with Giroud and don't sell anyone of significance then I'd be very happy with our summer. He's add much needed solidarity and depth to the midfield. I don't think there is significant interest in him from anywhere else so if we're willing to pay up I think he's ours. Sadly when it comes to us that a big 'if'.

Still feel we are a creative MF short. No guarantees as to how long it will take Jack to be at his best. If we do sign M'Vila, maybe Wenger will push Arteta further forward.

If Wenger thinks that Podolski and Walcott can play up front with another striker then it is not all that improbable that we may move back to a 4-4-2. I think key to that formation in this league is pace up front. I don't think a 4-4-2 with Van Persie and Giroud will work for example.

Wenger loves a 4-4-2-based set-up (in before Klaus says we've never ever played 4-4-2 under Wenger) 😛
