I asked my mate to keep an eye out for a decent TV for my spare room the other day. He just texted me; "Went to Curry's in Lewisham to have a look at Tv's for you, but by the time I got there they'd all been taken".

It's all happening to the west of there mate, Lewisham, Croydon, Peckham and Brixton, in particular.

Woolwich has apparently had riots, but not too serious. Concentrated in Hackney, Brixton & Lewisham this evening as far as I can tell, but seen a lot of riot vans just head north through chalk farm, not sure where to.

Wood Green, which was hit yesterday, is fairly close to my flat, not living there at the moment but if it gets any closer I'll be heading over later on.

Am beyond furious.

Absolutely mental stuff here. Feels like the 80s. The geographical extent of the violence is truly staggering.

Can in no way condone this behaviour but there are some very serious allegations being levelled at the Met, beyond the individual incident that has sparked all of this off.

Yep. Officers from 12 other Police forces have been drafted in to help.

Evening Standard claim this incident is what really ignited the violence:

Apparently, this was on the original 'peaceful' protest and the girl was a friend of the victim. She was carrying a champagne bottle (implied as a weapon) so fuck knows what actually happened. I'm genuinely shocked at what's happening in my city at the moment. Croydon is on the complete opposite side of London - what the fuck!?
