Miyaichi has trickery and close control that is better than Theo´s today, never mind 3 years ago. He is not as fast as Theo, but there isn´t much in it. You also need to realize that Miyaichi is no midget. He is 183 centimeters tall and well built. Give him a bit of time to fill out and he will be a physical monster, well suited for the PL.

I didn't realize he's that tall. 1.83 m is about 6 ft. Not bad for an Asian. I choose to adopt a wait and see approach with all these speedy, and supposedly tricky youngsters. Fact is Theo's been good, but hasn't justified his hype as yet. And I haven't forgotten the likes of Quincy Owusu-Abeyie either- note that AO-C has the same name format. 😉

Even if they have all the raw materials in terms of talent and skillset, they might not have the commitment and discipline to see them come to fruition.

The rate at which this kid has been improving is quite amazing though. Difficult to imagine ANYBODY at his age coming straight from school football to Dutch pro football - and from day one be arguably the best player in the team.

School football (depending on the school obviously) is the same as being at an academy in Japan; their system is a little strange. I looked into it because I was puzzled.

Either way - he went from playing boys to playing men. That is usually a huge step up.

Same step as any player coming from an academy makes. Chamberlain for instance was playing men last season.

Even so, Miyachi's had a hell of a year. AOC has followed a much more conventional path and the step up hasn't been as great for him, assuming that the two are at the same level technically.

I am just glad we have them both really. Having two such promising players should better the odds of us having at least one gem on our hands in the end.

Don't think there's any comparison. They're very different players. Theo was more of a striker who had to adapt to the wing while Miyaichi is an attacking midfielder who's adjusting to a forward role.

Okay. was just wondering about how you would compare them on dimensions such as dribbling, beating the man, crossing the ball, shooting, deadballs, etc.

Ryo has an ability to dribble at top speed in a way that Theo can't get anywhere near. He's also trickier and has better delivery, but Theo is streets ahead in his finishing and movement.

It's difficult to tell because Miyaichi still hasn't started a game for us. I saw a bit of him in Holland but it's obviously not the same thing. Coming at someone with pace they're both quick enough to beat their man on the outside. Miyaichi is trickier and have a better all-round understanding from what I've seen though. But that doesn't mean he's a better forward. Walcott is decent technically but nothing special and has been forced to survive by reading the game well and being able to finish chances. Apart from the physical aspect that will probably be key for Miyaichi too. He played too much like Arshavin in some games for Feyenoord. Every ball was a gamble. Going by the few cameos he's had for us so far he seems to have improved in that aspect though.

Miyaichi always does his share of tracking back too, or that's what it looked like in holland.

Abit misleading to say he is not as fast as Theo, because he is absolutely capable of matching him or better it.

If you say there isn´t much in it when talking about pace and compare someone to Theo - I´d say most Arsenal fans will understand the person you refer to is pretty fast.

Theo's a freak, pretty sure Ryo will never be quite that quick. Lets not forget Theo smashed Henry's sprint records at Arsenal, over all the distances they measure. From 10M up to 40M, I think.

Ryo is about as fast off the ball as Theo is on it. You would have to go a long way to find a player as fast as Theo; he's legitimately olympic sprint material.

He's insanely quick. Watched football for a long time and never seen anyone touch him to be honest.
