I'm quite fine if he leaves, but we should replace him with better. As limited as he is as a footballer, he still gets important goals and creates important chances in a way that no other player on the team seems capable of doing.

Feo is a keeper. Not always easy on the eyes his football is, but he is effective.

So how did ma boy do? Did he skin players for fun?

Thought he put in an extremely intelligent performance. He was always making the right decisions, and, up until his goal, kept it relatively simple. In a lot of ways he's the anti-Theo.

He didn't have an "intelligent" performance at all. He was exciting and explosive and he has bags and bags of talent but after his goal he played like a fucking idiot. If he did that in a Premier League game we'd pay for it.

He's going to be great though. He has the magic.

He was no doubt a bit cheeky after the goal, but I thought his decision making was spot on for the majority of the game.

He killed them. Every time he got the ball you thought "here we go", and nearly every time he delivered. He's something else, he really is. Even after the all the plaudits I've seen following the U21 games the other week, I still didn't dream he'd be quite as awesome as what he actually is.

We're very lucky he grew up supporting Arsenal, otherwise Fergie would have got his grubby paws on him no doubt at all. Bet the old twit is gutted he couldn't convince him to go up there.

Yes he got carried away after his goal but it was his debut and his addrelline must have been through the roof after the goal.

We all know he can pass the ball very well and he has the vision and awareness in his game.

He's a cocky little git, and he did go into overdrive when his confidence was really flowing, but that's great! Really it is.

I wouldn't exactly consider myself a fanboy, and I thought he put in a great shift, especially given the fact that it was his first first team start. As others are saying, he got carried away after the goal, but he was continually making the right decisions.

i'm sure you're right, xc, but if qs interprets the getting carried away as immaturity that would get punished by more experienced players, why is that wrong? (and not saying you said that, because you didnt)

and given the disease plaguing our team over the last few years, isn't complacency and cockiness exactly the type of thing we should be stamping out? one can certainly understand qs noticing that amongst his praise for the kid.

He's 18 years old. Nothing wrong with cockiness at that age. What worries me more are players who are complacent and clueless by nature like Gervinho.

Complacency? Yes, of course. Cockiness? Fuck no! We became a team of cogs, one is out of place and the clock stops working. We need individuals that believe in themselves and that can win a game irrespective of how fucking awful the rest of the team is.

The point is that despite him being hugely exciting last night, and trust me my imagination and and hope went into overdrive when I seen him, he clearly still lacks a bit of maturity, as you say to be expected at 18. Thats not to say he wasn't brilliant, for me he was probably MOTM (Coquelin ran him pretty close) and that he wont be a great player but I do think people are going to want him rushed and judging by last night I'd be wary of rushing him too early.

The main thing though is that he seems to have that bit of magic I think we've missed since Henry.

It's funny reading this thread and seeing the typical sources of unbridled enthusiasm for an Arsenal kid and the regular voices of caution. I like what I saw last night, and I like what I saw in the England U-21 games a few weeks ago. From what I've seen, I'd put him in the same bracket as Ramsey before the injury, but he might prove to be a lot better. We'll see.
