Podolski is a dead certain starter in a wide position for arguably the best team in Europe. If Germany can play the way they do with Podolski on the pitch, I don´t quite see how it would be a problem for him to fit in at Arsenal.
Apart from having the ability to play out wide and Through the center Podolski is a realistic target Rohit. That is the reason maybe everyone believes he'll be a good signing.
As Klaus says - he is no real option at CF in our current formation. IF RVP gets injured and we have a player like Podolski, I hope he has the balls to tweak the formation to suit the players he has at his disposal.
And i think he will might as well play with a 4-4-2 but i certainly believe he can add something to the attack. We are still not scoring a lot from the wide positions. Podolski might just give us the edge in that.
Where does he play for Koln? CF or wide?
We could do with an Eduardo signing. Ya know, when he first arrived
Looking back, shit god damn, did we really get rid of him cos of bendtner and chamakh?

I'm not so sure we do. It's not that I don't appreciate them - Walcott excites me like few other players when he's playing well - but one player like that is enough for me. Think we need a wider range of options when we attack.

wenger probably bet on the thinking that bender would improve, and the fact that eduardo was declining after his injury. the latter was understandable, the former was a major cock up.
Didn't like him in a one striker formation. Wenger says some interesting things about that role and it gives an impression of what he believes a striker needs to play there; primarily, his concern seems to be the physical.
he's right tbh. guys like villa, rooney, suarez, torres, and even aguero at times, have looked poor in that position, and end up playing wide instead. rvp is only thriving there because he's a genius.

I agree Capi, I'd like to see him in the Bergy role in a 4-4-2.
I really liked Eduardo. He was such a typical arsenal player and a Wenger Gem. He would have become some player for us if not for that injury 🙁
Wenger didn't know how to use him properly, he was stuck out on the wing and told to create his own chances and for others too- he's not that sort of player.
The change to the 4-3-3 finished off Taylors hatchet job on him.

4-3-3 was the worst formation ever for us. It was in a way one of 'Wenger's experiments' between 2007-2010. I like the way spurs play 4-4-2.

RvP is also big and strong.
Robin also plays like a typical dutch centreforward a lot of the time. Drops deep to escape marking, distributes the ball to the wide men and quickly moves up front again. Right out of the Ajax textbook at times.
Torres and Rooney's best form came playing as lone strikers, although both are pretty powerful.
David Villa made his entire reputation playing as a lone man most of the time too, both for Valencia and Spain.
RVP's physical abilities are under-rated imo. I think he's quicker and stronger than people give him credit for. But it's mainly his movement that enables him to play that lone forward so well.
he's very well balanced for someone with his build
so, if we beat city is it "back on"™?
