This is true, and this is why I think we tend to underrate players like Hleb and Nasri, who may not be up there all the time in the numbers / stats game. When these guys are with the ball, they tend to draw defenders to them due to their ability to dribble/keep ball possession, thus opening up spaces elsewhere on the pitch for their teammates to exploit. They may not get the credit, but they are very instrumental to our play.
