He probably pays more in taxes than most small Irish villages pay combined anyway, AND he is a musical genius with a wonderful voice.
As a percentage of his enormous income he and the group pay a fraction of the tax that the less well off in Irish society are burdened with. For years they never paid a penny in tax on the royalties they earned, when the law changed to stipulate that artists earning over a certain amount had to pay some tax on these earnings U2 promptly relocated their business (to Holland I think). Most people I know think he's a despicable hypocrite. I do too.
He's not a musical genius either. Whatever talent is in the group comes from the other three.

I grew up listening to U2. Always been a fan. Never been too updated on the things they/Bono do outside of the music.
When I asked Y va what she thinks is wrong with Bono - it was an honest question. Now I know.
