I don't want another season of watching this guy in my team. He's so fucking lazy and careless it's unreal. Yesterday when he fucked up the 2-v-1 in the first half I wanted to strangle him. Unforgivable. Go to fucking Anzhi or whatever they're called. Just fuck off.

he's done a rosicky. gone from a nippy forward who can shoot, to a player who never shoots and has no drive or purpose in his game. has no place the starting lineup.

He doesn't play through the middle because his pass selection is terrible and he doesn't cover enough ground.

Surely you need to cover more ground outwide where you need to constantly track back and make bursting runs forward? Infact I'd say attacking midfield is probably the most suitible position for a 'lazy' player. See Ozil.

You need someone in that position who can pick you out even in the most difficult of circumstances as well as keep the ball and wiggle free from tight situations and as he showed with that wonderful ball to Robin, he's capable of that.

Everyone being particularly harsh on him too. He's an excellent squad option, it's not his fault that he's currently more than that.

You need to be quicker out wide, but generally the central midfielders cover the most ground in Arsenal and have done so for a long time. So much of our play is channeled through them. Cesc regularly covers 13-14 kilometers per game. Arshavin barely moves more than Szczesny when he's on.

I think Arshavin gets a little bit too much stick as well for what it's worth. He's excellent at what he does, which is to provide us with a genuine threat when he's at the end of an attack. Good squad option to have around in that sense. The rest of his game has too many flaws nowadays though. Ideally you'd throw him on in the second half rather than expect him to work for ninety minutes.

You know after 20 minutes if Shava is going to have a decent game or not. Wenger is always too slow in taking him off, if he has a bad half he should be off, I've never seen him have a terrible half and then come back out and be good. On his day he can make the difference but the manager needs to use him properly.

Nah, Limpar was always great. It's too bad he wasn't born a couple of years later. He would have been absolutely devastating in the early Wenger teams.

I disagree with that. I don't think he ever really plays well over 90 minutes, can't remember the last time he did that, but he's always capable of producing a decisive moment, even on his worst days. Like the pass to van Persie yesterday or the scissor kick last season at Wigan.

The question is whether those one or two moments per game are enough to justify him being on the pitch in the first place? No is my answer. He does more harm than good.

I think you can see when he's up for it Ricky, things may not work out for him for a half but he's trying shit. Its when he's not in the game, not trying things that you can be sure one of those moments wont happen.

Like I said, I don't agree. I think he just can't be bothered to concentrate for a whole game, mainly because he never learnt to as a player in Russia - where he was the star, everything revolved around him and his talent allowed him to stroll through games. The thing is now even when he really tries, as he did for the last couple of months of last season, he's lost so much speed and power that he can't really hurt teams any more.

He's just a nothing player, other than one or two quality moments a game. For every good run he does or pass he plays, there's a careless touch or stupid flick that gifts possession to the opposition, or worse sometimes. Yesterday he actually fired the ball back towards our goal, straight at Shola Ameobi. It was only because Ameobi had fallen over that it wasn't disastrous.

If Anzhi or Zenit are genuinely willing to pay decent money for him, we would be mental not to take it.

We don´t need money though Ricky. We need experienced, quality players. If you ask me, this season, I´d take Arshavin over Ryo, AOC and Campbell any day of the week and twice on a Sunday. Arshavin was our most productive player last season, and he was still thought to have had a poor campaign by many. He is not half as bad as is being suggested by some, and he is certainly likely to be of more value to us this season than any of the players I mentioned earlier.

If I genuinely believed that letting Arshavin go would mean that the manager would invest in a younger, quality replacement things would be a bit different. Going by what Wenger usually does, that won´t happen though. Look at our bench yesterday. Jenkinson, Frimpong and AOC. Three guys without a single minute of top flight experience. No, we shouldn´t sell Arshavin now.

Yeah I agree with Rex. In another summer I'd probably be all for selling Shava but at the moment I can't even see Wenger spending the money we're getting from sales before the window closes so no point losing Shava too. I'd like someone ahead of him but I think he's worth keeping on for another year.

We looked better when he was dropped last season. So often he simply doesn't contribute for 90 minutes, or however long he lasts until subbed.

The most you ever get from him is a sweet move or two, and a sudden burst of confidence that carries him through half an hour of energetic, threatening attacking play. He looks great on those days and people say afterward 'Arshavin was our biggest threat'. But it's simply not quality you can rely on.

Not sure where he fits in to our setup but I'd rather he wasn't starting.

We looked better when he was dropped because his replacement was a resurgent Theo Walcott.

@[deleted] Nasri came in on the left and Walcott on the right. Both work harder than Arshavin albeit in different ways.

I liked that combination of wingers and I like Theo, he's been a ray of light at times.

We sell Arshavin and I think I might break down.

No, not because of his quality but because he's a character. And no, I'm not spinning him the ultimate Eboue defence, trying to claim his character helps us in anyway off the pitch or any bullshit like that, I'm talking about for ME. His face, his mannerisms, everything, the guy is a comedy genius. I feel so detached and disillusioned by this current Arsenal team, I feel nothing for so many of the players. Arshavin is about the only thing Arsenal-related that consistently makes me smile these days.

Yes, I don't think our set-up allows for us to carry a player purely because he may provide a 'moment'.

Also think that the way he comes inside so regularly has a detrimental effect when we are playing with an advanced midfielder and RvP but that's not necessarily his fault. The manager should be looking at that balance.

I never quite liked him tbh, find him funny and quirky at times but was never a favorite player of mine.

I'd keep him though. He's a squad player and if we replace Nasri, Arsh will probably be 4th choice. Has he been injured once in his time here? I can't remember one little injury and thats not something to be sniffed at. I wanted him gone in June but given how things have gone this summer, we should keep him for one more year imo.

Ideally, I would have sold him this summer, but with Nasri about to leave and Fabregas already gone, there's no chance we'll get three more attacking players in, so I think it's best if we kept him for now. Otherwise we may end up playing Miyaichi and Oxlade-Chamberlain...
