I'm really hoping he can get back to his glory days. The fact he looks fit and like he's actually trained over the off season hopefully means he wants to make a big impact this season. Could he be realising he doesn't have too many years left at the top? I hope so.

The forgotten one. He didn't look anything special out there today, so I wouldn't say he's "back" yet, but we do know he's got the quality, and was once widely acclaimed as "world class". You don't just lose that. Hope he gets back to Liverpool form this season.

I think it's more a mentality issue than fitness, though I guess you could argue they sort of tie into each other.

Delighted the rumours of him leaving have turned out to be false though, never really understood why some wanted him to go for a fairly insignificant sum of money.

Given the past two seasons, I would've been fairly happy if we could have gotten a fee of 10-15m for him. Think about how much better we looked (albeit briefly) with Nasri on the left in front of Clichy when he was dropped last season.

Still a great, exciting player but for me it remains to be seen exactly what he'll do over twelve months.

he'll struggle (relatively speaking) for us as long as we play 433. it's like when henry was played out wide with barca. they're both forwards who are losing their pace who have to expend energy defending because they are played in midfield.

I haven't seen the Malaysian XI match yet Kami, but miraculous cardiovascular transformations that last for a whole season are fairly rare. Just sayin'.

Arshavin's still a great player by moments though, and I really appreciate him as a club man now he's not constantly giving edgy, mistranslated interviews to the Russian media. Think there's lots of good use left in him.

Fitness and desire was always the big question mark, the quality never was. Him getting into good shape at least shows he still has the desire. I remember how dominant he was last season at Villa Park, they couldn't get near him. If he can reach those levels semi-consistently, he'll be a useful asset.

Arshavin has lost a yard of pace and yesterday didnt give me any inclination that hes got it back. What i hope for is that he refines his game and adapts into a different type of player.

going from slightly overweight to fit is hardly rare. last season arshavin carried too much mass. if he has cut down 8-10 lbs, he should be a much better player. leaner, more agile, quicker and better stamina.

And we'd ave a brilliant player back on our hands. His class and quality is beyond question - he just couldn't run or play at any sort of intensity for 90 minutes.

It's amazing how much Arsenal fans will for Arshavin to be better than he is.

He has never been fat, he's getting older, losing his pace and treats the ball like a five dollar hoe (yeah, it's fun but you'll give it away in a second). That doesn't, however, take away from his ability to have a positive impact on a game in terms of key passes and goals. That's where he earns his wages and he is damn good at it but not necessarily suited to a team that puts so much stress on a team based defence.

he weighed more than 70kg and is 172 cm. a fit and lean (footballers body type) arshavin would be somewhere around 65-67 kg.
