If we could come close to meeting his salary demands, I would've favored bringing in the winner Wesley Sneijder to replace Cesc and just dumping Cesc. It would be a net spend of zero, and we'd be DNA-free.

If we lose Fabregas, we need to get a proven fantista in. Wilshere, Nasri and Ramsey are not going to run an offense anywhere near as well as Fabregas or Sneijder if we need them to.

Sneijder's all right, and he'd go a long way appeasing the fans if we let Cesc go. We can't afford his wages though, as far as I know he's on mad money in Milano.

I don't see us getting Sneijder though, so not to worry. IF we get anyone to replace Cesc it'll be someone on the rise, not on his way down. We can discuss names if and when Cesc goes.

Sneijder is to Fabregas what Simon Charlton was to Paolo Maldini. He's basically the antithesis of a playmaker. He'd make our midfield worse and our striker less effective. We have Fabregas, we have Wilshere and we have Ramsey already. All three of them are more talented than Sneijder, all three of them are better suited to this formation.

I agree. He makes one or two decent passes per match and disappears for the rest of the game.

Look at the service RVP got from Sneijder at the WC. Absolutely no service at all. Sneijder either can´t spot a good run or, as I think, he doesn´t care because he is a selfish twat who rather goes for glory himself.

He is a good player, but not as a Fabregas replacement. Useless discussion anyway since he apparently is on silly wages already.

They sure are. But more importantly, they're both better playmakers. Sneijder can't see half of they stuff they do on the field. He's a pure luxury player. Bound to succeed in a team such as Inter that relies heavy on ball-carriers and other people doing all the job for him to capitalise on (Cambiasso was likely the best midfielder in the world that season while Sneijder raked in all the fame). Bound to make you struggle if you're looking for him to distribute the ball and spot weaknesses in the opposition's defence.

If you were to offer Inter either Cesc or Wilshere in exchange for Sneijder they'd bite your hand off. And then hold you hostage at gunpoint until the transfer were finalised.

I'd love to see United buy him and stick him in the centre of midfield in a 4-4-2, would make my day.

He's okay if you build your team around him and play him off a striker or two strikers, but as a central midfielder, asked to work hard, tackle, pass and control the game - he's bang average.

Ricky, he's not a central midfeilder. That's like me saying Alex Song is bang average as a playmaker.

So you think United will drop Rooney or Hernandez and build their team/attack around Sneijder in the free role behind the striker?

I agree he's a crap central midfielder (he has played there often throughout his career, so it's not like calling Sagna a striker or something), United need their wingers, so there is no fancy formation to be put forward. Sneijder either succeeds in the centre of a 4-4-2, or the team gets built around him in a 4-4-1-1.

To be honest, he would be an upgrade on having Rooney in the hole, the way they played us at the Grove. Rooney as the lone striker with Sneijder in the hole would make them better. Not the worst move Man U could make if Berbatov is leaving tbh.

Rooney is an amazing scorer who has had to carry a playmaking burden. Bringing Sneijder in gives them a better playmaker AND it allows Rooney to be a better goalscorer. I could see them largely playing with Sneijder at 10, Rooney at 9, and 2 of Valencia, Nani, Hernandez, and Young flanking them. Will be interesting to see what they do.

If they brought in Sneijder as a central midfielder, they would definitely have to bring in a De Jong-type and ask more defensive work of their wingers. I'd see him as a 10
