So, we lost two of our best midfielders and our best winger this summer.

It's not all doom and gloom though, we have a lot of money and Wilshere will be like a new signing when he returns in January, or May...

I'm glad a transfer out of here for Nasri looks to be done and dusted. Ultimately selling him for the best fee we could get is half of the best possible course of action with respect to him.

It would've been infuriating looking at this guy playing with average intensity during the season and knowing that £20-25m was being frittered away. His behaviour during the summer hasn't really been too out of line, but it has spoken volumes.

Definitely, just like he did against Liverpool. It will feel so much better seeing Rosicky playing with zero intensity tomorrow (Edit: he's apparently injured at the moment, so we won't see his trickery again until the United game). I can't wait.

Sure Klaus, but look at it this way - even if we qualify for the CL group stage, we're only looking at £10-15m revenue from it maximum. Winning that competition is clearly out of reach with this squad, with or without Nasri, winning the league likewise.

We are without doubt entering a 'transitional' season between this era of fourth place mediocrity and the next.

With this turnip our goose is already cooked - we might as well make a bit selling the foie gras on the side.

It's the last we'll hear about that money.

I'd rather watch a quality player play for us and perhaps win us a point or few than know that there is this sum of money sitting on some bank account.

Sad that all we can talk about these days is the money that we get for selling off our best assets.

It's not like this money is going to bring us fans any joy.

Well supposedly Marseille are entitled to a large chunk of the transfer fee, so that argument goes out the window.

Even with a 50% sell-on going to Marseille, I think the odds remain very long that the financial penalty incurred by keeping Nasri and letting him leave on a free in twelve months would be anywhere near offset by a corresponding increase in revenue attributable to his presence at the club.

Let the little bastard go - he wasn't loyal in any measurable sense and he wouldn't have had a good season. His whole contract strategy revolved around winning himself a deal like this one at City and he's got his wish.

I've always presumed it's usually a percentage of the sale fee, though I'm sure there are a variety of different possible structures. I'm assuming Klaus will give us the gen on the Marseille sell-on - can't find anything on the web so far.

I thought sell-on fees were usually a percentage of the difference between the price you bought the player for and the price you sell him for.
Otherwise, it wouldn't make sense. If the player can be at least twice as valuable in the future, then why doesn't the club doing the original sale [Marseilles] just increase the base transfer fee? It's a risk sharing arrangement. "If you sell him, we would like to share in some of the upside you realise"

In fact, we should go in to the money lending business with other clubs. Better have our money out there earning 'points on the principle' than sitting in our bank account.

If we're not going to invest it in footballers we might as well invest it in the most lucrative business we can find. Drilling for oil perhaps - find ourselves some petro-dollars.

Arsenal's PL win percentage with Samir Nasri in the starting line-up is 49% since his arrival in 2008. Without him it's 62%.
