i spent many a days over the years trying to convince people (proving that arguing on the internet is pointless) on a-m that money was their for wenger and he just wasn't spending it and was living or dying on his experiment. i was never a hater and was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on his project, but he keeps moving the goalposts and redefining what success is. it's fuckin ridiculous. broke is just an excuse for those that can't believe he's this stubborn. he's really the grandpa cliche now.

the board maybe gutless for not pulling the plug but they weren't preventing him from signing what we needed over the years.

As for the penalties with the stadium loan exactly how much are they and what exactly is the interest rate and over how many years?

roughly 5.3% (210 @ 5.14% and 50 @ 5.97%) and 25 year legal maturity. i don't know the early termination penalties, but i doubt that it's small because the bondholders want the steady income over the life of the bond. in cases like this the penalties are such that it's meant to discourage early payoffs. early payoff equal lost future income.

the 50m variable rate was always meant to be paid off sooner that's why it's at higher variable rate interest and a shorter life.

i won't begrudge anyone that kind of move. it's not like he's going to boondocks, russia with no chance of winning things that matter. he can achieve the necessary team accolades with city and get paid handsomely. win/win for hiim. he should embrace the cunt label, because he is one, just a soon to be filthy rich one.

Slightly off-topic, but have City's owners ever expressed their goals in terms of what they want from running the club? Do any of you believe that it'll be possible for them to turn a profit within the next few years?

Xc, profit must be the last of their objectives. I imagine their priorities are
1) To promote the Abu Dhabi brand, (this is just part of their use of sports including F1 to raise their profile)
2) And to win.

no better way to promote it than by winning. plus, they have so much ill-begotten wealth, they don't know what to do with it. ownership of the club is a status symbol and form of entertainment for these people. it's pretty sickening.

I must be a complete dodo, I genuinely thought last season that Nasri was committed to the club.
Seemed to be happy and loving his football for a while.
That kind of money is mind bending.
So long to the bitter one then.

TBF none of us saw the Nasri situation coming in early summer, I didn't even know his contract was up for renewal.
But once negotiations got under way I had full faith in Wenger to fuck them up.

And why is he 'bitter'? you'd need your head examined to refuse that kind of money and a genuine chance of medals over Wengers project.
It's us thats bitter having to put up with this shit.

I do remember the happy days of six months ago when his contract was first seriously discussed and the naive confidence we had that he'd re-sign. What a laugh.

He's getting a chance to earn three times the amount he makes at Arsenal and play with better players. Don't blame him for wanting to leave even if he did feel differently about Arsenal a couple of months back.

Oh no, I don't really blame him GM.

I do think he'll have to accept we don't particularly like or give a shit about him now, though - just as we have to accept he doesn't care about Arsenal or its fans. That's breaking up.

When City come to the Emirates he can expect to have us flashing our new significant others around and blanking him - assuming Wenger is capable of filling up his dance card before the window closes.

Guys, Nasri is not going to be on £200k per week so forget the excuse about not being able to turn down that sort of money. He had a very good offer from Arsenal and ManCity's will have been higher but not by over £80k per week; that's just stupid.

He played a game and it backfired.
