I don't think we're simultaneously working on replacements for him and Cesc, whilst also planning to bring in the hero CB that will make our defence right again. Too much to do with too little time. But I've always maintained that he would stay. At least he hasn't acquired any suspicious injury over the holidays, and hasn't really said anything to lead us to believe he's about to jump ship.

Nasri hasn´t really said anything at all through all this. I find it difficult to understand why there seem to be so many that are upset with him.

From the beginning he was just a guy who seemingly wasn´t happy with the proposed contract from the club. That much was confirmed. Not by Nasri though, but by the manager. Nasri kept quit. Then he seems to have decided it is better for him to ply his trade elsewhere. We really don´t know, because Nasri himself has kept very quiet and only conducted his business with the club, not through the media.

IMO he has done nothing wrong. Can´t even blame him for thinking it would be a good career move to move to one of the Mancunian clubs. He is most probably right.

To be fair, I'd rather sell Nasri to City and pick up a new player in his position (eg Mata) than keep him and see him leave next year.

I'd rather sell players to City too. You know they will just sign another world class player even if you don't sell to them, so why not fleece them yourself.

I've been thinking about the Nasri situation, does anyone think that Wenger might be playing hard ball to show the world and one Francesc Solar Fabregas that we have and would be prepared to keep a player till that last minute of his contract even if it means missing out a transfer fee?

I'm starting to think that we should just sell Nasri. If for nothing else so we can eliminate the possibility of him ending up our main playmaker next season. Can't stand him in that role. He's a piece of shit for putting us in this situation anyway.

The sensible thing would seem to be selling Nasri. If I was manager that's what I'd do. Really not sure what Arsene's playing at... perhaps he genuinely believes he can get Nasri to sign a new contract?

£20 million+ for a player who hasn't played a decent game for over 6 months and whose heart doesn't seem to be in the club is surely too good to turn down. Get Mata (or equivalent) in for that money and tie him down for 4 or 5 years. Problem solved.
