A solid signing for 2m, with uncertainties over jack, i wish we were into this transfer sooner, as I believe he could have been a great stop gap while rosicky and diaby keep dicking on the injury table.

You know, it's funny that Vieira quotes from 2001 keep getting linked on here. He didn't believe that arsenal could compete with a £25m transfer budget in 2001 and here we are, 11 years later with fans still expecting us to compete with the same bloody budget.

Well spending £25m net is something we have not done often. But the issue is more about whether we have needed to operate on such a tight budget. Wenger once said he was paid handsomely because he has been making the club a lot of money.

I think it's a decent signing actually - they're ridiculously short on central midfielders, and if Mancini keeps playing with the three man defence he could fit in there. Should get plenty of games if he stays fit, which will be more of an issue.

Apparently the fee was closer to £20million. Lot of Everton fans pretty happy with the deal.
