Their president talked about him in Bild at some point before the Euros. Biggest issue seemed to be the price tag at the time but Spurs will be eager to slash their wage bill. Got the feeling that they already had a personal agreement with van der Vaart. His agent has been giving some lip service in German papers too and the other day Metzelder was talking about what a great signing he'd be for them.

He's got a pretty good build too, hasn't he? He's just over 6 ft. Reckon he'd put on a couple of pounds of muscles fairly quickly in Premier League.
