Kagawa isn't a winger, and he won't be displacing Rooney. Yes, he'd win stuff and be paid way more but he'll be riding the pine.

I would hope that we're serious for him. He's affordable, a big upgrade on what we have, would fit in with the style of the team, and he'd be a first XI starter. Plus, he could have a mate in Ryo maybe. The likes of Hazard are pipe dreams, I think.

kagawa wouldn't be displacing Rooney. He'd be displacing guys like Welbeck.

I looked at the United bench with Hernandez, Young and Valencia and thought "we could use one of those guys, especially Valencia". I guess a guy like Kagawa would just come in and replace Giggs who looked past it today.

Rooney likes his Number 10 role though. Means he can flit about doing fuck all for large chunks of a match (and season), and doesn't have to work half as hard or as selflessly as when he plays as the point man up front.

Young and Valencia would be useful players in our squad, but I don't think they're any better than what we have out wide. What we need is a really top player like Hazard to push Gervinho or Walcott one spot down the pecking order.

Rooney is the most industrious player at United regardless of whether he's up top, in the hole or on the left.

You need to go watch some game tape of Antonio Valencia. He is vastly superior to Gervinho and Walcott. He's probably been United's 2nd best player this season.

Young is probably just a bit better than Gervinho and slightly inferior to Walcott. As frustrating as Walcott is, he has probably just gone past Young this season

Not my kind of player, definitely a very good player though. Don't rate him as much as you lot do though, and that's not because I haven't seen him play.

Still not good enough to get a start in United's biggest game for about 20 years! 😆

More seriously, what the fuck has happened to Nani this season? He's been dross for most of it. Had to begrudgingly admit he was pretty damn good for most of last season.

Given the impact Thierry had in his short spell back, it's hard to reject the idea out of hand. He's still got a scoring touch in a good league, and to play the role of the 2nd striker off the bench, it's not so outlandish. The man has real class - that won't go away.

I would definitely take him. I'd even consider starting him in a two-striker system. He's got qualities similar to Bergkamp's in a supporting role.

I'm sure he'd play a few more seasons in Europe if Arsenal came knocking.

i have a gut feeling that kagawa will goto united. they can go 4231 with rooney up top and valencia, kagawa, young/nani behind him, which is a bit scary, if you ask me. nani might be sold, but i'm sure they'd find a replacement.

Kagawa I'm primarily interested in for his commercial value. He'll be a gold mine for the club that finally secures his signature. Our opportunity to break into the Asian market, and improve revenues on that front. That he's actually a very good footballer is a nice bonus.

Ryo will still be there for us, even if / when Kagawa goes somehwere else.

but kagawa is the more likely to be a starter the next 3 years (or longer if we're winning stuff). if ryo develops like we hope and becomes japan's best player then great we'll have two. insurance on a park type situation or what if ryo turns out like vela (talent for everyone to see but something is off in england).

Are you guys all into marketing? Who cares about their market value? What truly matters is what they bring onto the pitch.

Anyways, Kagawa - probably won't happen. United bound, even though he'll struggle to get games in his natural position, and for whatever reason it appears we aren't interested.

Hazard - also won't happen. Probably City bound, he'll be brilliant but the kid is seeing dollar signs, and his agent is being unreasonable.

We will probably sign Belhanda.

these sorta threads are kinda pointless without marketing though. our commercial revenue is where there is considerable room for improvement and could help us afford better players.

it's not just about what happens on the pitch. even when we were winning/challenging for titles we lagged behind commercially.

You reckon? Ferguson seems to have high hopes for Welbeck and Hernandez is someone who likes to lurk around in the box as well, and they still haven't shipped out Berbatov. Rooney's in his best position right now too.

Besides, Kagawa isn't the type of player that United usually associate themselves with.

I'd take Raul, or even someone who wasn't as good but proven and won't let sitting on the bench deteriorate his game.

I see what you're saying GM, but they wanted Sneijder badly in the summer, so I can see them going for kagawa.

they need a player in that position, and kagawa is basically a better version of park, so i'm sure fergie will love him. if they want, they can play kagawa further wide and rooney behind a striker as well. lots of options.

unlike us, united is not afraid to spend, so they could, of course, spend big and get hazard or whoever instead of kagawa. but i think kagawa makes a lot of sense.

Yeah, I'm sure he's good enough for United.

But as a wide player, he's different to the ones they've had over the years, Park is more like Dirk Kyut so I don't see the comparison while Nani, Young and Valencia are closer to being out and out wingers which is the type Ferguson prefers. Of course he might just like the tactical flexibility of having someone different available to him.

Reports say that he'll decide his future after the German Cup final and the German newspaper that linked us to Podolski think that Kagawa will be United bound, so you may be right KAmi.

We've not been linked with him at all, which is a bit strange.
