I note there's no mention of the pre-2010 contracts clause, Capi. For our sake I hope that Swiss Ramble's interpretation of the FFP is correct, otherwise it'll be meaningless until about 2015.

So he reckons we've got £50m to spend. Nice figure, but not particularly handsome for years of transfer inertia.

The impact of that contract clause will delay the inevitable until the end of the 2014-2015 season but then, alot can happen in three years.

AST generally seem to believe that we have £35-40m to spend and I'm inclined to believe them.

Nike decided to take up an option that was inserted into the original contract. Gazidis had nothing to do with it.

If Wenger spends 20m odd net excluding wages then id be fairly happy with that assuming we get 10-15m from sales.

According to the article, yes. Also includes profits from the property development and market housing. Then again it also states that the Transfer Proceeds Account is not solely used on contracts.

I can't belive that Chelsea has a wage bill of £173 million, by the way. Insane.

Fucking ridiculous our wage bill is still so high despite us always trying to save this 1 or 2 pennies not to offer more to deserving players so they leave. Wage structure my arse. All because we pay fringe and youth players way too high. Its really time to clear all the dead woods and learn from Barca, quality youngsters are fringe players who have low wage.

Denilson out and Lansbury in his place would be a good start to that system.

The wage bill is ridiculous when you consider we're squabbling with Nasri over a few thousand. Just stop paying Denilson and give his wages to Nasri.

Taking into account that we've been making a net profit in transfers over the past 5-6 years, those numbers are worrying.

We have 50 million to deal with transfers, contract extensions, and the wages of both. So what if we spend 30 million? If it took us this long to get to 50 million, what happens next year?

It seems impossible to run a club in a sustainable manner when everyone else is refusing to do so.

The stadium debt has halved in that time though, so it would appear we've pumping money into that rather than into the team. In that sense there should be no fear for the financial future. However it does go to show that being run as a business with plural ownership isn't doing us any favours as the shareholders just want to maximise their profits in the safest way possible.

Most of the debt effectively paid off itself, in a manner of speaking, with the property investment. We took out a loan, built the appartments with it and paid off the loan with the money we made from selling the appartments. Oh, and we made a tidy profit from it all, which went...errr...where?

Whether we have 35 40 or 50M to spend in transfers is irrelevant, they are not paid up front and we can easily afford even borrowing more.
The fact is its Wengers stupid policy thats the problem, any manager worth his salt would be fighting to bring the best players we can afford here instead of insulting our intelligence and our eyes.
When he finally goes it will not be to a fanfare of trumpets but to a chorus of hurrah's and rightly so........
