CHELSEA STATEMENT
Chelsea Football Club can confirm that Carlo Ancelotti parted company with the club today (Sunday, 22 May).
The owner and board would like to thank Carlo for his contribution and achievements since taking over as manager in July 2009, which included winning the Double for the first time in the club's history.
However, this season's performances have fallen short of expectations and the club feels the time is right to make this change ahead of next season's preparations.
Carlo will always be welcome at Stamford Bridge, where he will be given the reception and respect his position in our history deserves.
Chelsea's long-term football objectives and ambitions remain unchanged and we will now be concentrating all our efforts on identifying a new manager.
There will be no further comment until that appointment is made.

They didn't hang about. I wonder who they have their eye on? Too early for Villa-Boas?

Actually, thinking about it, Villa-Boas has got to be the one they want, and the reason they've sacked Ancelotti so quickly?

I bet on Villa-Boas, with half of his Porto side coming with him. Fernando, Hulk and Falcao!

Villas-Boas?
Would he really be ready and have the experience to manage the egos at Chelsea?

I hear some are worried that Avram might be drafted into the set-up.
With Abramovich it's possible.

He's as ready as Mourinho was, although, admittedly, Chelsea are a much bigger club now.

Highly doubt it will be Vilas-Boas.

Mourinho had just won the champions league mate.

You don't think the swiftness of it all might be because they're worried another club might snap him up? He's won all he can in Portugal, most likely looking for a new challenge.

Mourinho had just won the champions league mate.

That doesn't mean he was any better at handling big players, which was what Y was talking about.

Villa-Boas has had an absolutely astonishing season, something very special indeed, Chelsea would be mad not to give him the job.

She said he is not ready.

Mourinho won the champions league, not the two bob euro. That's when he 'came of age'.

No, I don't.

If they appoint Villas-Boas and we still have Wenger, I am going to give up the next few seasons altogether.

Don't think Chelsea is that smart though. Gotta be some big name like Hiddink

It's been pretty obvious for a while now from Carlo comments that he was going at the end of the season, and now that the season has ended, there isn't much point in keeping him around any longer.

A lot of Chelsea fans not happy at all. It's great to see them taking the Real approach to hiring and firing managers.

Just to clarify - I don't think Villas-Boas is ready for the Chelsea job.

He's talented but still too raw for what's involved at Chelsea.

If I was a Chelsea fan I'd be desperate for Hiddink. He's pretty much as good as it gets.

Tells you quite a lot about ambition though. Winning a historical double last year and finishing 2nd this year gets you fired. I bet the Chelsea players are under no illusions of what is expected of them next season.
