The only thing nearly as impressive as Mayweather's boxing is his ability to play the pantomine villain. He takes these bums, plays deeply on their underdog status until he has half of the world believing that "this is the one", "mayweather is going to lose this time", "he's met his match" etc. and then annihilates them, all without letting his mask of invincibility slip. It's really something; he genuinely is the money maker.

Technically, Mayweather is his own promoter, and as Captain said, he builds himself as the villain. I agree with you that it's not just Mayweather (although he's a big part) because some of the media think the underdog will win or the underdog is next big thing to beat him.

Remember him mentioning it in an interview many years ago and in real life suppose to be a really nice guy.

He is too good, reckon in their primes he'd have taken Pacquiao out as well. Wonder if that fight will happen, surely too much money for it not to happen. Dunno if Pacquiao is past his best or just can't be arsed these days.

money may is better than him now even though he's 2-3 years older. pacman couldn't handle a 30 year old floyd. i'm done with hyping up these "others" as potential floyd beaters. it's not happening. he's too smart and skilled for all of them.

At this point Mayweather's biggest rival is age, but he isn't showing any signs of it. That was a comfortable victory.

Hope Canelo doesn't let this loss affect him negatively. He's still got many years ahead of him.

If he doesn't rush back, he will be ok as physically he wasn't damaged.
Problem would be jumping straight back in against a Pacquaio and getting flattened like Hatton or Cotto before he is mentally ready.

You shouldn't really be as fast as Mayweather is at 36. Absolutely amazing. The thing is, even if you disregard Mayweather's lightning quick hands, amazing precision, and excellent footwork - his defense is out of this world. Cinnamon was chasing shadows and hitting arms and gloves all night.

i think people have been giving cj ross too much shit. it's easy to see how she could call rounds for canelo. look at that gif for example. canelo blocks floyd's punch with his face and then counter elbows floyd on the shoulder causing him to double over in pain. that's obviously a situation where you give canelo points.

Re Mayweather: In terms of pure boxing skills (footwork, reactions, quickness, accuracy, awareness and intelligence) Floyd might just be the best ever.

Yep, looks like it was a combination of a change in technology plus Ainslie being brought onto the boat that turned it around. Don't really understand why Ainslie wasn't on the boat to start with, he was on their reserve boat giving them match practice but wasn't expected to be part of the actual competition, then when it started so badly they dumped their tactitian and brought him on. NZ were 8-1 up needing to win 9 races to win the thing and Oracle managed to win 8 in a row to win 9-8 (really 11-8 in races as they got a 2 race penalty for some sort of cheating and started at -2). Everyone is gutted here. Love it. 😆
