It should be a great return series. I feel confident that there's more to come from our top batsmen. Cook will get back in form eventually and he's scored four hundreds and about a million test runs in Australia. The pace and extra bounce should suit Root who plays very much on the back foot and Trott showed signs of getting back in good touch yesterday.
Australia need to give some guys more of a chance. Settle on a batting order and give people a whole series. Think Rogers was the only one to bat the series in the same position (not counting that final innings when they pushed up the big hitters to score quickly). How is someone like Hughes supposed to come good when he gets dropped after a couple low scores and brought back again quickly and bats in a different position in almost every innings. There's clearly noone better on the domestic scene if you keep going back to him so if he is the long term hope then give him a couple of full series in the same position. He's scored big runs in tests so you know he's capable so just give him a run in the side. If he fails 10 or so innings in a row in the same position then discard for good. Same with Khawaja really. Give these guys a run in a settled a position if there's noone else you can ever call up instead. Fair enough if there's lots of people being tried but it's the same 2 guys who are constantly in and out.
Same with some of the bowlers. Starc was dropped and recalled twice in this series. Think Shane Warne said in commentary that of his 11 tests he's only once played 2 tests in a row. You desperately need Harris's body to hold together too.
