Phew, that was stressful! Jimmy Anderson is the man. That day was his best performance for England and for a guy who has got 300 test wickets that means a lot. Thank heavens for DRS too, that's what it was for. The noise of the edge was there and so was the hotspot which was later confirmed by snicko (why can the 3rd umpire not use snicko by the way? It was made for that decision and I kept expecting it to pop up in the review and it never did).
After everything that happened it was inevitable it would end on a DRS decision. Burnsy is spot on. There were a few debateable ones but they probably evened themselves out as they always tend to. Agar didn't appear to have anything behind the crease when he was given not out and that cost 150 odd runs and Broad should have been out and scored another 30, who knows what Trott being given out first ball without the technology actually needed for that decision being available cost? There's always going to be debateable once but more often than not I feel the system ensures you get the correct decisions. Maybe there's an argument for giving teams 1 more review so they have 3 but it's a pretty good system.
It was an incredible match and that's what test cricket is all about. I have to say I'm struggling to get used to all this celebrating and enjoying sport! Just in the last few weeks we've had Justin Rose, the Lions, Andy Murray now this. I guess the football season starts soon to bring some normality back! 😆
Would expect some changes for the 2nd test. Can see Bresnan coming in for Finn and Cowan would be lucky to stay in for Australia. Still think they should have had Warner instead but they've sent him off to Zimbabwe.
