3 grand slam finals in a row for Murray and apparently the first player in the open era to win his first grand slam then make the final of the next one. Not even Federer did that. Can't wait for tomorrow night.

Went to the ODI at the WACA yesterday, Aust vs West Indies, first cricket I've been to all summer.

Got absolutely trashed with one of my workmates, yelled out nonsense, got cautioned for sculling by the bar staff etc. Good entertaining match too, great innings by Bailey, then got to see four sixes straight from Narine in the Windies chase.

Readers of the "Splash" thread may be interested to know the match was just slightly marred by a ridiculous third umpire decision review 🙂

What was the review? Watched a reasonable amount of the match but that may have come during the time I was out playing 5 a side.

Devon Thomas was ruled caught by Wade off Starc off his gloves.

Initially ruled not out, but then he was ruled out by the third umpire, despite the fact there was no deviation visible on the video and no hotspot. The decision took the third umpire a huge amount of time to make (five minutes or so - no joke). Felt dodgy as up until then the Windies were still in with a chance.

Ah actually I did catch the tail end of it when I switched back on last night, they were showing the replay with snicko showing nothing. I had it on mute at the time so didn't realise it had been given out.

Definitely felt like it was a case of batsman's benefit of the doubt.

Unless there was a pronounced sound of some sort - but in the crowd you couldn't hear much, of course. Even then the hotspot would've showed something.

So on what basis was it given out? Loads of controversy with udrs in the SA v Pakistan test too.

Yeah, it was bullshit to be honest.

Short ball that cut past the raised gloves, looked like it hadn't hit anything, no deviation, no sound, no snicko.

Benefit of the doubt should've applied, I was sitting there watching the replays saying to people around me "ahh, they'll never give that" ...
