Asterix Agree there , camt remember the last time both teams played at Sydney without a main spinner. Also, given the news that just came out about Harry Brook , one would hope Bethell stays away from him on nights out!

Tomorrow is an interesting day in the men’s Wimbledon semi-finals.

This kid (well he will be 24 on Sunday) Arhur Fery is a French born nepo baby who has declared himself British and has reached the semi-finals on a wildcard up against Zverve who won the French Open (the German’s best Wimbo result was reaching round of 16 so this is the first Wimbledon semi both players will be in).

In the other semi you have world number 1 Sinner looking to win his first GS in 12 months up against the GOAT Djokovic.

Issue is the Sinner Djokovic match is second on Centre Court which means it could overlap with Belgium v Spain #firstworldproblems

Fery's family moved to England when he was only one month old and he grew up in Wimbledon btw. "Declared himself British" makes it sound like he's barely been there but there's a grandparent or someone who was born there.

Mirth not really the same situation. Mo moved to Britain as a child and became British after arriving. Fery was born in France to two French parents and moved as a newborn, so it’s a different debate: birthplace/heritage v upbringing.

I’m not saying he isn’t British - just pointing out the irony that Britain’s big Wimbledon breakthrough is from someone with entirely French roots.

you're not making any sense. mo moved to britain with his family as a child. fery moved to britain with his family as a child (infant). both have british passports. even when fery was at stanford he was claiming london as his hometown.

and i thought britain had wimbledon breakthroughs before. i seem to remember murray winning a couple times.

And does "nepo baby" imply he's only there because his father is well off and he doesn't really deserve it? I'm sure there were doors open to afford top coaches etc like other players have had but the matches still need to be won right? The world number 9 and recent RG finalist was still thrashed on centre court.

Fair enough, didn't actually know anything of his history other than a quick Wikipedia scan. Presumably you still need the talent to beat Dimitrov and Cobolli at Wimbledon regardless of your father's wealth though, unless we're implying the matches are rigged.

I think Zverev will beat him but fair play getting to the semi final crazy accomplishment.

Sinner will beat Djokovic too sadly. His quarter final took way too much out of him, no way can he go again at his age.

Only the 2nd ever wildcard to make the semi final. The other being Ivanisevic who went onto win. But you'd think surely Zverev will have too much across a 5 set match.
