To be fair, I only ever wanted some actual evidence beyond other disgruntled and confirmed cheats like Hamilton saying "oh but, oh but, oh but he did it too" before I would conclude guilt. Now that we appear to have that I'm happy to believe.

I've got nothing against NFL, it seems like a great spectator sport in many respects, but I doubt I'll ever get into it. Going to a live match last year with a full pre-show bonanza was pretty amazing though.

I've disliked Armstrong for a long time, long before the doping allegations became so loud, and quite arbitrarily - just because of his larger than life media persona.

My best mate's a cycling nut and I can remember winding him up about Lance Armstrong back in about 2005 ...

Think I am going to watch an entire F1 race one of these days. Saw part of a time trial the other day and found it quite enjoyable.

I find the same qualities in basketball. You also get a lot more flair there. If I had more time on my hands I'd defo go back to watching too much basketball again. Priorities 🙁

Bit late with the response here, but you should read The Secret Race, Burnsy. I just finished it. Someone else (Tim?) mentioned it earlier in the thread too, I think. There's a lot of justification in it for the sceptic view you seem to have held of Armstrong's public persona. Slate had a piece a while back written by Tyler Hamilton's co-author on the book, Daniel Coyle, that briefly talked about how Armstrong became better than anyone else at manipulating the media and the drug testers to gain the upper hand.

Many of us instinctively presume that cheating creates a level playing field. In fact, it does precisely the reverse. Widespread cheating rewards the few who have the best information, the most money, and the highest risk tolerance. In this world, Armstrong and his team ruled: Armstrong spent more than $1 million maintaining his exclusive relationship with Dr. Michele Ferrari, regarded as the sport’s best doping doctor. Armstrong used his private jet to transport drugs, and he cultivated a friendly working relationship with the sport’s governing body that, according to the USADA report, may have helped him evade sanction for a suspicious drug test in 2001. Armstrong also had an entrepreneurial attitude toward risk, hiring his gardener to follow the 1999 Tour de France on a motorcycle and deliver EPO.

It's a fascinating read.

No need to nowadays. Just watch the start at 1pm in case the French guy takes out a few contenders on the first lap, after the safety car comes out, log into the tolly to pass time and just dip in after 30 mins to see the replay of Hamilton's car to breaking down, then an hr later to see if there are any changes to the procession and you can then decide to watch till the end to see Vettel's finger and Alonso's supporters crying
