Absolutely incredible match of cricket, been watching for a long time but never seen anything like that. Fair play to both teams out there, neither deserved to lose but in the end England held their nerve.

Well neither team actually lost. England won the World Cup on a technicality inserted as rule in the most unlikeliest of scenarios that was realized on a freak day. The match was tied. NZ won't go down as Champions in history but I hope history also writes the result as England won on boundaries scored.

Just glanced over the men’s tennis grad slams. Since 2017 these 3 guys have won everything. And since 2005 they’ve won about 80% of the majors. Other guys must be hoping they can retire en masse. For these guys to dominate at this level without doping is incredible.

Tempted to say it's the best one-day game i've ever watched even though i missed large chunks as there was F1 and the tennis at the same time.

Bloody Poms. 4 runs off a ricochet, Stokes caught on the boundary but then stepped on the rope, and the super over bowled by a bloke who was West Indian until recently. It was really destined for England. Since this isn't rugby I really feel for our Anzac brothers. Never mind.

Never! Makes a nice change to come into work and not be the laughing stock at the end of a World Cup for once. Of course, that’s probably coming with the rugby later this year so enjoying this one for now. After the shambolic 2015 campaign (and to be honest every World Cup campaign in my time), and especially being at the thrashings by NZ and Sri Lanka in Wellington 4 years ago, words cannot describe the joy of winning this World Cup.

Absolutely shattered though. Attempted a nap at the innings break (about 1.45-2.30 this morning) but couldn’t shut my mind off, and tried for an hour’s sleep when it finished at 6.30 but was no chance coming down from the high. Fair to say I’m struggling now (11.30am at work)! Those last couple of overs then the super overs was the most unbearable thing I've experienced in sport.

you know what i was thinking about? watching federer v djokovic yesterday, if you had said that both guys were in their mid-late 20s, would that have been surprising with the level of play they both showed? sampras, who was the GOAT when i was growing up, retired at 31. agassi retired at 36, but he was basically done at the top level at 32-33. federer is 37, djokovic is 32, and nadal is 33. what they are doing in their early (and in federer's case, mid) 30s is incredible
