Anybody watching the snooker? Selby crashed out in the first round while O'Sullivan is turning it around after a bad first session. Early days but looks a great opportunity for Ronnie to add his sixth world title.

For anyone into cricket, AB deVilliers has just announced his retirement from international cricket. It's been coming for a while, with his injuries, but I thought he had come back extremely well in the recent series against India and Australia. Clearly not to be. Huge loss for the game.

Watched Monaco Grand Prix for the first time in a long time. Had forgotten just how slow and dirty this track is. As usual overtaking was limited, so victory was determined by tires and race management. Ricciardo did it best. Excellent throughout.

Another dire performance from the England test team getting slaughtered again. Not sure where the team goes from here. Too many key players past their best but with no viable replacements emerging. Probably time for Cook to retire but we can't really afford that when we still haven't managed to replace Strauss to partner him. Still haven't really replaced Trott or Bell either. Anderson and particularly Broad looking near the end, but again there doesn't seem to be any fast bowlers looking like they could take over. After some incredible highs between 2005 and 2015 hopefully we're not going back to the dark days of the 90s now.

In contrast the ODI and T20 sides are really good at the moment while the test side is woeful. Is it just all about limited over games now and noone cares enough about the longer format anymore?

Stanley Cup Finals wrapped up with the Washington Capitals winning their first cup.

A lot of the attention has been on Alexander Ovechkin as he too wins his first cup, and deservingly so. He's a hell of a player and very possibly the greatest goal scorer ever, which while an accomplishment does stop well short of being the greatest ever player (he's no where near that one). I digress, what Ovechkin showed this post season was an unbelievable determination to do everything the "greatest" players do, while maintaining his ability to score (15 goals, most in the post season).

Final thought, many of you don't follow hockey much but clearly have a love for sport. The Player's Tribune has a great read on what makes the Stanley Cup the best sports trophy.....I'd argue it's in a league of it's own with no other sports trophy even close to having it's stature.

How I loved this series....
Those rookies from Vegas putting up a good fight.
And those Caps, what a way to win, away from home, game 5.
And they celebrate!
Ovechkin with his missing tooth which says I'm not one to fool around with!
15 Years in the NHL, and he gets his Cup.
Holtby did very well in goal.
Oshi, the busy bee, Kudnezov, Mr. Smooth, Nikonen, Eller, Carlson. ALL of the them.
Just happy to see a team who hasn't won anything in so long.
It is special isn't it, this Stanley Cup.....
