you have to become an optus broadband or mobile customer on a 24 month agreement in order to get the epl now

and this before we even know if optus' network can handle the demand of live event streaming

my boss knows the guys from the optus bid team - essentially said their epl apps are still a work in progress

Well I've just spent about the last 2 months fighting with Optus to try to get our home broadband working properly. I used to find their customer service pretty good, but to describe it as woeful now would be far too mild. They are so shit I'm switching to Telstra (whose customer service will also be shit but at least their network is better).

i work at a company that resells optus fixed dsl and nbn products. theyve been having widespread congestion and provisioning issues for at least 6 months, and its still ongoing. not a good sign for a company thats bigging up live streaming on their network

Yeah I figured there are deeper issues because we've been with them for about 7 years and never really had problems. They keep denying it though and trying to convince us the problem is within our house. Dodgy fuckers are about to lose me as a customer.

Not true imo, there are a bunch of outstanding boxers, my man Kovalev who might fight Andre Ward later this year, GGG who I don't even rate that highly but who has a very entertaining style on a 20+ KO run and many many others. The HW division especially is having a bit of a revival, except for Ortiz most can't really box and the better fighters are in the lower division but with characters like Fury or AJ etc there's a lot of publicity around it which can only be a good thing.

Was always going to be tough for anyone to shine after Mayweather, he is one of the very best boxers ever.

And yeah Canelo is definitely the favourite, Khan was chinny in his own division let alone two classes higher. Most likely a KO but if he survives the 12 rounds he might actually win on points as he's the better boxer in my opinion.

It won't happen. Canelo lacks the balls and fights only people in his own personal division

@flobs I disagree, especially in the lower divisions there are plenty of top class boxers around. Roman Gonzalez is one of the very best to watch, definitely top 3 p4p ahead of Ward. Rigondeaux is getting on a bit but technically the only one on par with him in the last 10-15 years would be Mayweather himself, watch his fight vs Donaire, utter domination. Lomachenko is another very interesting prospect who along with Rigo is regarded as one of the best amateurs ever, then you have guys like Crawford who's one of the best switch hitters since Hagler and also very young.

Again, the HW division is definitely not even in the best five at the moment but at least there's something happening rather than Wlad jabbing cans to death. Fury is a strange case, he's just extremely uncomfortable to fight against even if he's not the most impressive boxer. Ortiz is easily the best in the division but I can't see anyone fighting him

Re the fight, pretty much what I thought would happen. Khan running rings around the stonefooted Canelo who proceeds to knock him out. Hunter's work didn't really help him, his defence is way too sloppy for someone with an explosive chin

Boxing needs a restructure. Completely. Having four greedy, corrupt, independent councils has turned the sport into a farce. Flobs is right, there are no glamour boxers left in the sport. The heavyweight division has been irrelevant for 10-15 years. If it wasn't about greed, unification would be happening along with a concerted effort to steer young athletes into boxing rather than gridiron or mixed martial arts.

People have been saying this for decades now. While that is certainly true as a boxing fan you will find interest in the sport regardless; it's similar to how football could do with an overhaul too by getting rid of cancerous football agents like Mendes or Raiola and corrupt organisations like FIFA and UEFA, we're still way too invested in the sport to ever let their antics turn us off the sport.

NBA playoffs are coming along nicely. Cleveland seem to have clicked just at the right time, the Curry injury has made the Warriors v Blazers matchup interesting, and the OKC v Spurs matchup is just as intriguing and exciting as I hoped for.
