For the last ten years every time I watched Federer play I wanted him to lose, lose badly as if he were Spurs or Man Utd. This was mainly because I love Nadal.

However, today was the first time I was rooting for Roger. Felt weird but I really wanted him to win. It's prob dawned on me that one of the greats won't have long left in this sport and I might as well enjoy him before it's too late. Also, because in my opinion Nadal is unfortunately finished which has minimised my desire to see Federer lose.

He did play great but Novak was on another level-an absolute monster on the big points.

I thought Nadal was the GOAT, but Novsk could surpass him.

When we do look back, Nadal, Federer and Djokovic could easily be put in the top 3 of all time greats.

Such a great era in tennis. Shame that there is no one below them that looks to have similar potential.

Djokovic is amazing, but Federer will always be my favorite tennis player. Probably his charisma and the moment that just leaves you breathless.

Pete Sampras is easily up there when it comes to best of all time IMO.

Yeah, that's the thing about Federer. A complete player, an artist and a powerhouse. Sampras had a similar range to be fair to him, but he wasn't as graceful.

Was always a fan of Pistol Pete. I'd also argue that the Grand Slam courts were more diversified in Sampras' time. Seems the courts are generally slower now, and more similar in that way.

I never enjoyed watching Samosas play at Wimbledon.
Used to bore me to tears.

I used to feel the same way when Sampras started out, he had a super boring vibe, but he was humanised quite a bit as his career went on.

Thinking of Sampras vs Courier at the Australian Open 20 years ago, that was an amazing match.

Generally, I think the game of tennis has benefited from the slower courts. At one point almost every tournament other than Paris was played on super fast courts. It made the men's game all about serve and volley. I found the women's game more entertaining then because points were more than 3 times over the net. Sampras, as with all serve/volley players, had to adapt his game right about when courts started to become slower. He was by far the one who managed that transition the best IMO. So powerful. I loved watching him play, although I probably rate Federer as the better player all things considered.

Have certainly been in awe of the things Federer has done and feel lucky to have seen him play live a couple of times. But have never been a fan and always found him to come across as a git. Don't particularly like Djokovic much either but was good to see Federer lose. The level of play from both was astonishing though.

Back to Shane Watson, there have been a lot of gags over the last few days. Hadn't seen this one before. He is even the only player who can be LBW when fielding:
