I’m extremely happy with the squad Arteta has built. This window especially, we have been spot on with every single incoming transfer so far. Tzolis, Bruno, Konsa. All players that can step right into an already elite program and maintain or improve it. That’s wild if you think about it. I’d call it a 9/10 window. The players we weren’t able to secure - Rogers, Vini jr - both had question marks around how we would deploy them and how they’d fit into our system for various reasons, so while it felt disappointing at the time, it’s essentially an all’s well that ends well situation in hindsight. We are just fine.
The icing on the cake (a 10/10 window) would be if we can somehow find another elite player for the forward line. One who can alternate and compete appropriately with Tzolis, ideally versatile enough to keep the bumbling one out of the squad as well. If not, then I guess we can hold on to Martinelli as a speedy, tactical option.
