I've been annoyed by him at times but I always liked Bruno and I've always wanted him at Arsenal. This reminds me of when we signed Arteta because I always wanted him at Arsenal too and they are both quality PL mids with Phds in the dark arts.

Just got out of Alan Davies stand up show here in Wellington and got to meet him after and have a quick chat about The Tuesday Club and Arsenal and then this is the first news I see.
Didn't much like him when he usually seemed to be a thug against us but better to have him in the team than the opposition. Exciting to have another quality addition.

Sicario2 yeah he's a much better final 3rd player in terms of finishing, finding a gap in the defence, etc than any of our other deep CMs. Could even play him ahead of 2 of Rice/Zubi/MLS in certain games if needed.

Sicario2 Arteta knew where we had to upgrade. Sure we create lots of goals from set pieces but can we score more directly from them?

In January 2022, Arsenal had the chance to sign Bruno Guimaraes from Lyon.

Edu, Arsenal's technical director at the time, and executive vice-chair Tim Lewis thrashed out a deal for the Brazilian, only for Mikel Arteta to decide against the move, unconvinced he was the right fit for the squad he was building.

Four years on, they have just made Guimaraes one of the biggest investments of the Arteta era — the Arsenal manager's admiration for the 28-year-old midfielder having grown through years of watching him thrive, and often clash, with his side in some of the Premier League’s fiercest recent contests.

My only consolation is that we probably wouldn't have signed Rice in that case.

Qwiss I'm not entirely sure I believe that, might be we had limited resources so if we chose Bruno we'd lose out elsewhere but Bruno very much seems like an Arteta type of player to me.

Watched his interview on the app seems like a great guy. The number 39 story is quite touching too. I am definitely rooting for him now.

When asked what he can bring to our midfield unit, Bruno said: “I can pass the ball, run a lot and play like a warrior, I'll never give up. I will try to help the team, [I’m] good with the ball, composed, very calm, and sometimes I can score some goals and hope to make everyone very, very happy here.”

Can't really ask for more than that can we.
