Really like him on the RW should be getting a lot more mins this season. Hope he starts vs Coventry.

All the kids are on with the rest of the starters off at 60. Meslier with a couple decent saves.

Wilshere was a full year older than Dowman is now when he had his breakout Emirates Cup against Rangers and Atleti. I would say Dowman was doing equivalent things a year ago. Wilshere was previously the most precocious academy player I'd ever seen but Dowman is so much more precocious than him that it's genuinely insulting to compare him to Wilshere. Not even being hyperbolic. He's much closer to Yamal than he is to Wilshere.

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert yeah wilshere was older as has been mentioned.....not to say he wasn't great....his performances attest to that....he was genuinely a world class talent.....sadly (i believe) his way of play meant he was going to get injuries....i think that led to a lot of those tackles otherwise he'd be a possible 100 cap england player...incredible to think he racked up nearly 40 with his last cap at 23-24

that said i believe dowman is better.....that's my opinion

Not following the academy much these days...as evidenced the money gets to the youngsters and they turnover like kyran thompson and mishel nduka....

Wilshere was on his way to being one of the top five midfielders in Europe.

Dowman is also a supreme talent but I still see things he needs to iron out (to be expected).

Marli Salmon has grown, which isn’t surprising. Max looked great. Held on to the ball a bit too long sometimes, but when you’ve got feet like that it’s fine - when it comes off it’s amazing.

A few nice balls from Louie Copley in the second half. He’s 19, could maybe be in line for a loan.

It's a bit sad but any time I see Jesus turning out for us, all I can think is how many years this bastard has been bang average for Arsenal while earning massive wages.

It's gotten so when he scores a goal I feel annoyed because it's just more evidence of how he steals a living.

Asterix Max looked great. Held on to the ball a bit too long sometimes, but when you’ve got feet like that it’s fine - when it comes off it’s amazing.

Dowman has filled out quite a bit. Already 6'0" but might have a few more centimetres of growth in him. Havertz is not a bad player for him to be learning from, he could end up having a similar stature and range of traits.

There are too many players Arteta would play ahead of him in the middle. Here is what he said about him after the game:

On the pitch, he didn't because a lot happened in Marseille. But when you just stand in front of him, you sense the maturity and he looks like a different man. The experience on paper, it wasn't ideal but I think he went through something that is going to help him a lot in his career.
