RocktheCasbah I was similar but it was downwind enough I got a good sighting, though not for as long as I'd have hoped. Felt like it appeared from nowhere and was past in a flash as a result.
The atmosphere and build up for the few hours beforehand was super. Electric feeling and genuine joy everywhere. Even walking back down to Kings Cross/Euston and looking back up Pentonville Road to just see a sea of red and white blocking the roads and halting the traffic was quite something. I think we were lucky to be near the southern point of the route and could get through that area before it really got mental.
Dreaming of next year already....
