Tactics

Yes we have not been free flowing but it’s almost impossible to be against such a defensive team. That was a professional CL performance away from home, please more of the same in the 2nd half.

Fully expect them to turn it into a dive fest in the second half , they’ll be going down with the slightest of touches in the box. Hope the officials don’t fall for it

Surprisingly good performance. A bit lacking in cutting edge but very comfortable for the most part. Quietened the crowd which is a good sign for me. Rice has been imperious.

Kel Varnsen

Decent enough first half, but our wingers are really ineffective. Martinelli had so many chances to go at the defender, but he hesitates and waits too long every single time.

FEBravo

Controlball as it’s meant to be. Not always the most exciting but effective.
Bring Saka and Eze on and we can cook.
Would be a great game for Harvertz.
Don’t know what happens to Ode but it’s actually sad to see

The midfield tweak with Rice as the 6 and Zubimendi as more of an 7 is a refreshing change. Feel far more comfortable with Rice deeper and Zubi was great for the penalty.

daredevil Rice sometimes seems to be playing as a CB, in a 3. We are fully aware of how dangerous they can be on the break

daredevil we have tried that a few times recently and it's worked relatively well.. if Rice could become more predominantly a 6, could really help in unlocking our attack.

We can get a couple more here. Put on Trossard at the start of the second half, then after 60 mins Calafiori for Hincapie and Eze for Odegaard.

Putting this kind of performance in away to Atleti in the first leg of a CL semi is a good performance.
