I ended up watching it haha. Have to say, and maybe it's with the benefit of hindsight knowing we did not throw away the lead, but the second half wasn't as bad as was being made out, at least ot wasn't to me. Yes, we didn't create much, but neither did Newcastle.
Whilst Newcastle had the best chance with that shot from Wissa after an over the top through ball by Woltamade, they didn't create anything else of note the second half, whereas in the first they had a number of decent shots around our box area that could have been a goal. We were very comfortable second half defensively as can be seen by them having 13 shots all game with 10 of them coming in the first half.
On the other hand, our second half chance creation sucked, but that was more down to final execution more than anything else. There were a number of chances we could have created a shooting opportunity but opted for the wrong decision, shot, or pass. Rice not shooting, Saka shooting when Rice (or someone else) was free on the edge of the box, Gyok on that 4vs2 etc.
So yes, Newcastle had the best chance that second half but we actually were comfortable defensively, and while we were again unconvincing in attack, we at least tried to move the ball a bit and were close to fashioning some chances had the final decision been the correct(ly executed) one. I actually think our first half was poorer than the second.
