We were paying 50-60m for someone who can be an acceptable alternative to saka but he's done nothing to justify that fee

Gunner89 what pisses me off about Madueke is that we had Nwaneri who had been doing really well on the right and we signed Madueke anyway. It was claimed this was because Nwaneri was seen more as a central player by Arteta. Well has this year been better for his development than playing wide? Have we been better as a team for having Madueke over him? IMO neither of those things are true. We wasted £50m for at best a similar level player (I'd argue worse) and we've damaged the progress of one of the brightest talents at the club. We also had Max coming along too. The lack of logic in the Madueke signing is staggering. It's just because Arteta doesn't want to play youngsters (yeah Max is getting minutes but that's largely cos Madueke is so bad).

Claudius it hasn't. He's run his first teamers into the ground and been forced to play the kids, that's not the same as wanting to play them. He played MLS and Nwaneri last season because he was stuck and as soon as he had the chance he got players in ahead of them. Now he's playing Max a little because he broke Saka and his Nwaneri replacement isn't good enough.

It's an absolutely rubbish argument which has been debunked time and time again if you cared to look at any peer stats. Saka plays as much as Vini Jr, Yamal, Raphinha, Mbappe and any other winger (in fact played fewer minutes than many of them in recent seasons). If you follow football in a vacuum then you might not realise it but a quick analysis of how he compares to peers will quickly highlight how he has the same workload as any other player in his position.

Arteta said that Madueke would give us an option on the left providing width and deliveries. We saw it briefly in pre season and that was it. Should give it a try again

Reading Arseblog this morning and his bit about us using the comfort blanket of Raya I felt was so on point especially for this game. Too often the midfielders have their back to the opposition goal and no seeming interest to go forwards where god forbid they might have to be inventve and take some chances. Much better to pass it to Raya let him figure it out. Even on transition we won the ball a few times in a promising position only to instantly knock it back and give Bournemouth the advantage because they are very good at pressing and when we went back we got stuck.

The players are contributing but it's happening too much to not be on the manager who has created a negative approach where attack is an after thought and not a natural part of this teams culture.
